A vibrant mural showcasing the curling community at the Richmond Curling Club was unveiled on Sunday.

The new mural, titled “Richmond’s home of Curl’ture & Curl’munity,” portrays the themes of champion wheelchair athletes, young curling athletes, geography and wildlife.

Mark Anderson, the artist of the mural, said the art project was inspired through the stories shared by long-time members of the curling club.

“I got a good sense of how important this community and establishment was to everyone,” said Anderson.

“It was evident the friendships and camaraderie made at the centre were paramount to the wellbeing of the members. I really wanted to convey this in the mural.”

Meanwhile, Lorraine Warn, president of the Richmond Curling Club said the mural is magnificent and showcases the sport of curling.

“The depiction of the inclusivity and sociability of curling as shown by artist Mark Anderson will be a highlight on the building for many years to come,” said Warn.
