Richmond's Tyler Horstmann played for Delta Hockey Academy's Bantam Prep team last season.

Richmond's Tyler Horstmann is among 60 players invited to next week’s B.C. Hockey U16 Provincial Camp in Shawnigan Lake.
The camp, slated for July 11-16, represents the third stage of the U16 High Performance Program. It will determine the Team B.C. roster for the U16 Challenge Cup in Calgary next fall.
Horstmann came through Seafair Minor Hockey’s rep program before playing last season for Delta Hockey Academy’s Bantam Prep team in the Canadian School Sport Hockey League.
The 15-year-old forward finished with 28 points in 30 league games, including 16 goals which ranked fourth on the team.
He was also selected 70th overall by the Edmonton Oil Kings in May’s Western Hockey League Bantam Draft and is headed to his first major junior camp in August.
In total, 13 players from the DHA Prep team were taken in the draft, including Surrey native Justin Sourdif going third overall to the Vancouver Giants.
Meanwhile, a pair of players who dazzled at the Richmond Olympic Oval for the Greater Vancouver Canadians last season are among 111 prospects from across the country heading to Calgary later this month for Hockey Canada’s national U17 development camp.
Forwards Sasha Mutala and Henry Rybinski had key roles in the Canadians coming within one win of capturing their first-ever B.C. Major Midget Hockey League title.
Mutala finished fifth in league scoring with 63 points, including 39 goals, while Rybinski ranked 15th with 46 points. The pair of 16-year-olds are headed to the WHL next season. Mutala was taken sixth overall by the Tri-City Americans in the 2016 Bantam Draft. Rybinski went 34th to the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The U17 camp is part of the selection process for the two Canadians teams that will be competing in the U17 World Hockey Challenge, slated for this fall in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John.
