Spots are still available in a youth basketball camp at the Richmond Olympic Oval this weekend, led by Canadian star Kelly Olynyk. The 26-year-old recently signed a four-year free agent deal with the Miami Heat.

For the second straight summer, the Richmond Olympic Oval is welcoming an NBA star to host a youth basketball camp and this time it’s one of Canada’s very own.
Kelly Olynyk will be in town this weekend for a camp that runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Earlier this month, the 26-year-old 7-footer signed a four-year deal worth over $50 million with the Miami Heat. He had played with the Boston Celtics for the past four seasons.
Olynyk moved from Toronto to Kamloops when he was in Grade 7 and enjoyed an outstanding high school career with South Kamloops — leading the Titans to a third place finish at provincials in his Grade 12 year.
He received a scholarship to Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA where he earned First Team All-American honours in his junior season. He was drafted 13th overall by the Dallas Mavericks then immediately traded to the Celtics.
Olynyk will be joined at the camp by special guest Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs. The 30-year-old 6-foot-6 shooting guard has been fixture with the Spurs for the past six seasons.
Throughout the two-day camp, Olynyk and Green, along with the rest of the coaching staff, will place campers in small groups. They will be put through a number of drills focused on improving their basketball skills level in ball-handling, shooting, passing and defence.
The camp, is open to boys and girls ages eight to 17 and spots are still available. The cost is $199 (US) and includes a Nike Kelly Olynyk T-shirt, a camp photo with Olynyk and Green, along with an autographed item.
