If your World Cup alarm clock isn't already set for Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m. -- do it now.
For you may be lucky/unlucky enough to see one of the sights of the year in Richmond.
Depending on the outcome of the unexpectedly early clash between soccer giants England and Germany in South Africa, you will either "bare" witness in Steveston to a dejected German running through the village in a skimpy English Speedo swimsuit or a heartbroken and humiliated Englishman skipping down Moncton Street in tight Lederhosen.
Originally, the News reported two weeks ago how proud Englander, and Steveston Barbers owner, Iain Mackelworth, laid a bet with his Iranian-born German rival Davood Khatami, who owns the Bean and Beyond Café around the corner.
If either of their countries won the World Cup, they were going to run through Steveston in their respective team colours -- whether it be a barely-there Speedo or ludicrous Lederhosen.
However, with England not doing as well as expected in the World Cup's group phase, the two countries will cross paths in a mouthwatering match-up on Sunday morning in the round of 16.
And the News has managed to talk the two soccer nuts into accelerating their bet to the outcome of this weekend's big game and also turn their bet on its head.
"If England wins, I will run through the village in Iain's little swimsuit," said Khatami, who was born in Iran and grew up in Germany before moving to Canada.
"If Germany wins, which they will, Iain can run through Steveston in my Lederhosen."
When Khatami's challenge was put to the good barber, he said, "Absolutely. Let's do it, let's have a laugh.
"But I don't think Davood will fit into my England Speedos, though."
No matter how the morning is going to end, Khatami and Mackelworth intend to kick the day off in style, with opposing breakfasts from either country taking centre stage in Bean and Beyond at 6 a.m.
"We're going to have a big breakfast together in the café before the 7 a.m. kick off for about 20 people," Khatami said.
"I'm not usually open on a Sunday at that time, so anyone what wants to join us should give me a call first.
"Iain is coming over to make us all a big English breakfast, whatever that is, and I'm going to make them all Bratwurst sausages and potatoes from Germany. It's going to be a lot of fun. There might even be some Guinness on the table."
As to their predictions, not surprisingly, Khatami said, "Germany 3, England 1. Germany will come strong. We have a good, young team and a strong midfield."
And Mackelworth: "The Algeria game was awful, but the first half today (against Slovenia) was much more like England. But that's just England for you. We'll come out punching against Germany.
"If Italy can do it four years ago with a bad start, I'm sure we can as well."
