A busy month of May included athletes from the Richmond Gymnastics Association competing at high-profile competitions across the country.
Recently appointed national junior team member Chris Kaji and senior athlete Devy Dyson were in Gatineau, Quebec for the Canadian Championships.
Despite being the youngest member of the junior team, Kaji lived up to expectations and went above and beyond by qualifying for four event finals where he collected two silver (floor and vault) and a bronze (rings) medal.
Dyson finished seventh all-around in the large field of competitors and qualified for the rings final where he also placed seventh.
There will be no time to rest for these boys.
Dyson is preparing for the FISU Games (University Games) that will be held in South Korea in July  where he will representing New Zealand. Meanwhile, Kaji is heading to Mississauga for a national team training camp.
Richmond Gymnastics was also represented at the Western Canadian Championships in Okotoks, Alberta.
Elite 3 competitor Kai Iwaasa was crowned Western Canadian all-around champion, finishing a great margin ahead of the silver medallist. He won gold on floor and silver in the vault, parallel bars and high bar events.
Level 4 competitor Jonathan Ray won silver all-around. He captured gold on vault and parallel bars, while adding bronze on rings.

Both athletes were part of Team BC capturing first place in the team competition in their own category.
The RGA  congratulate all its athletes for an amazing and successful year and thank its volunteers and City of Richmond for their ongoing support to help.
The club invites everyone to its Year End Showcase on June 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sportstown complex — 4991 No. 5 Road.
