Re: “Put brakes on speeders,” Letters, June 14.
We were almost hit at Garden City Road and Bennett Road last night, as was an elderly neighbour. It happens all day, every day in Richmond.
Tonight, it happened while crossing at St. Albans and Bennett.
I just can’t fathom what goes through drivers’ heads when they approach a crosswalk with lights flashing.
When my elderly mother-in-law is here for a visit, it’s quite frightening to cross the street with her, wondering if some reckless and selfish driver will blow through. It’s habitual here.
Cracking down on these drivers would help the city coffers and ICBC rates for us all, and may save a life or two.
How many people have to get hit or killed before the city and RCMP to take some action?
