Richmond RCMP is requesting the publics assistance in locating two missing tourists from Chinese tour groups.
They make up the third and fourth instances of missing tourists in Richmond since last August.
While foul play is not suspected in any of the incidents, its concerning that tourists are being reported missing from tour groups, said Corp. Sherrdean Turley. Considerable time and resources must be devoted to ensuring the well being of these persons.
RCMP received a report that Yanyun Chen, 61, was missing from her group on Jan. 22 around 10:30 p.m. The tour group was staying at the Hampton Inn and scheduled to return to China that morning.
Chen was last seen at the hotel on the evening of Jan. 21. Investigators confirmed that Chen did not board her flight back to China and noticed that Chens luggage was missing from the hotel.
She is described as an Asian female, five feet, two inches tall and 90 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a three-quarter length black coat and black knee high heeled boots.
Richmond RCMP also received a report from a tour guide that Suqin Feng, 52, was missing from her tour group on Feb. 19 around 11 p.m. The group was staying at the Holiday Inn Express and was scheduled to return to China Friday, Feb. 22.
Her roommate last saw Feng at the hotel in the early morning of Feb. 19. Video surveillance shows that Feng left the hotel on her own accord with her luggage around 4 a.m.
She is described as an Asian female with black hair and brown eyes.
Investigators have been in contact with the Chinese Consulate and other foreign agencies, as well as, the E Division Missing Persons Unit and Canada Border Services Agency.
