An 11-year-old Aldergrove boy was hit by a truck and has been rushed to hospital by Air Ambulance Friday afternoon.

Just before 3 p.m., two boys apparently ran across 29th Avenue near 270th Street, close to Aldergrove Community Secondary.

One boy made it safely to the other side of the road, but the other was hit by a pickup truck.

The boy sustained head injuries and was unconscious but breathing at the time.

An Air Ambulance helicopter landed at the high school’s field and took the boy to a trauma centre.

The driver stayed at the scene of the accident, said Cpl. Holly Marks of the Langley RCMP.

The exact circumstances of the crash have not been determined, but police believe the boys were not in a crosswalk, and don’t think that either speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.

The Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was to help local Mounties investigate the accident.

Victim Services workers were providing support to the boy’s family.

Anyone who saw the collision and has not yet spoken to police is urged to call the RCMP at 604-532-3200.
