Richmond Mountie injured after rush-hour crash

Road was closed for several hours after cruiser collided with semi-tractor trailer

A Richmond Mountie was hurt after a rush-hour crash involving a semi-tractor trailer and a marked police cruiser on Westminster Highway near Jacombs Road.

The officer’s injuries, according to reports, are not considered to be serious.

“Our investigation determined that the semi struck the passenger side of a marked police car in the intersection of Jacombs and Westminster Highway,” said Staff Sergeant Annie Linteau.

“The officer…has since been taken to the hospital. No one else was injured as a result of this collision.”

What caused the crash, added Linteau, is now under investigation.

The incident caused a massive backup on Knight Street and Westbound on Westminster Highway between Jacombs Road and Knight. The road was closed for several hours due to the investigation.
