On a day when I opened a newspaper to find that a man convicted of killing 56 sled dogs was basically set free, I received a parking ticket for parking in front of my own home on a quiet residential street.
The NO PARKING 9: 00 - 3: 00 SCHOOL DAYS signs on our street were erected decades ago when Steveston High school was a Grade 11 and 12 school and the city didn't want students parking on neighbouring streets.
Steveston High has been closed for more than five years now, but the NO PARKING signs remain - an almost impossible task for an individual to try and get them removed.
I've paid the parking ticket - the law's the law.
But somehow, in the big scheme of things, I'm asking myself where the real justice here is.
