Driver error is believed to be the cause of an SUV plowing into the wall of a fitness centre earlier this week.

Around 12:45 p.m. on Monday, May 23, Nancy Lin was inside Sunberry Fitness in Fairchild Square at 4400 Hazelbridge Way when a Honda Pilot crashed into the front wall of her business.

Lin said she and her business partner were about 10 feet away from the wall at the time and they feel “very lucky” to have escaped injury.

The collision, according to Lin and Richmond RCMP, caused significant damage to the building envelope.

No serious injuries were reported, however, the two occupants of the Honda Pilot — who were taken to hospital — were shaken up, but otherwise uninjured.

The driver, said police, was a male Richmond resident in his mid-60s.
