City to host capital projects open house

The City of Richmond is hosting this year’s capital projects open house on April 18 at city hall. The open house will start at 3 p.m. and last for four hours.

The City of Richmond is hosting this year’s capital projects open house on April 18 at city hall.

The open house will start at 3 p.m. and last for four hours. Richmond residents are invited to come to learn more about the city’s capital construction projects.

“An exciting year is underway for the City with a diverse array of capital projects that will provide dependable, resilient and accessible facilities and amenities for Richmond residents,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie in a press release.

“From building new community centres and pump stations to upgrading watermains, sewers and roadways, these construction projects align with Council’s strategic goals and help support the continued growth of our city.”

Highlighted projects include:

  • Fire Hall No. 1
  • City Centre Community Centre North
  • Minoru Centre for Active Living
  • Crosswalk improvements at five locations
  • Traffic signal improvements at two locations
  • Upgrade of 26 bus stops to improve accessibility
  • Oval Village District Energy Utility (OVDEU)
  • River Parkway Extension
  • Spires Area Water, Sanitary & Drainage Upgrades and Eckersley B Sanitary Pump Station Upgrade
  • Shell Road North Drainage Pump Station Upgrade
  • Hamilton Area Sanitary Pump Station Construction
  • Lane Drainage Upgrade – Broadmoor Boulevard (North)
  • South Dike Upgrades between No. 3 Road and Gilbert Road
  • Sealord Area Watermain Replacement
  • Vulcan Way Sanitary Forcemain Upgrade
