A high-level RCMP investigation into cocaine trafficking came to a climax in Richmond and has led to four suspects being charged.
The 14-month probe by the RCMP’s North District Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit (ND-FSOC) resulted in a raid at a Richmond home last June and the arrest of local man Tijinder Singh Sidhu, 46, who now faces multiple drug traffic charges.
Also allegedly found at the residence was approximately one kilogram of cocaine, two vehicles and cash.
The raid was the result of an investigation into trafficking in Prince George and Chilliwack that began in April of 2015.
The warrants carried out by Mounties in Chilliwack saw the seizure of approximately one kilogram of cocaine, a large amount of cash and a vehicle.
In Prince George, police recovered a cache of firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, body armour, a cocaine press and cash.
Nearly a year later, four people, including Sidhu, have now been charged in connection with the drug busts.
Ravneet Singh Basi, 44, of Kamloops, Fabian Fraser Cuthbert, 45, of Prince George, and Katherine Pearl Cuthbert, 73, of Prince George, were charged along with Sidhu.
During the investigation, RCMP’s ND-FSOC worked in partnership with Prince George RCMP, Chilliwack RCMP, Richmond RCMP, Delta Police, Kamloops RCMP, Surrey RCMP, Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit and other federal support units.
“This was a very successful enforcement action taken against this group responsible for supplying cocaine to Northern B.C. which will have a significant impact,” said RCMP ND-FSOC Staff Sgt. Glen Breckon.
