A former Miss B.C. contestant has finally pleaded guilty to taking part in the notorious 2011 Stanley Cup riot.

The lawyer representing Sophie Laboissonniere, 20 at the time of the riot, entered the plea on his client’s behalf at Vancouver Provincial Court on Monday.

She reportedly didn’t appear due to the media spotlight that’s been cast on her since the offence was committed.

Laboissonniere was charged with participating in a riot and for breaking-and-entering, after allegedly looting a London Drugs store that June night 18 months ago.

She originally pleaded not guilty to the charges before this week’s court hearing.

Laboissonniere, a former McMath secondary student, was once named Miss Congeniality in the 2011 Miss Coastal Vancouver pageant.

It’s expected that the looting charge will now be stayed when she appears for sentence in May.

Her eight-day trial, scheduled for April and May, will now be cancelled following her guilty plea.

Laboissonniere's lawyer, David Baker, said in the past that his client took one bottle of water from the pharmacy during the riot.

The Crown has approved charges against 173 people, while police have recommended charges against a total of 315 suspected rioters.
