RCMP bust another credit card skimmer scam

Another credit card skimming scam has been shut down. Richmond RCMP have arrested a 24-year-old male whom they say had been illegally stealing credit card information at a local restaurant.

It is the second such operation shut down recently. Earlier this month, RCMP arrested a 15-year-old boy whom they allege had been involved skimming credit card information while working at a Richmond gas station.

In the most recent incident, RCMP received information about a possible skimming scam at a local restaurant on June 22. Police are not identifying the restaurant.

RCMP were able to determine the same male employee had been working when all the credit card "compromises" occurred. Police found a hand-held credit card skimmer on the male and arrested him. He was released on a promise to appear and is due for a first court appearance on Sept. 9.

ROBBER SOUGHT

Ricmond RCMP have released the photo of a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery June 17 at the Comfort Inn Airport Beer and Wine Store at around 10 a.m. The suspect and an accomplice robbed the store at knifepoint.

He is described as Caucasian, 5'10, 40 to 50 years old, with a heavy build with balding brown hair.

Anyone knowing of his whereabouts is asked to call the RCMP at 604-278-1212.
