Letters: What were Bains and Loo thinking?

A Richmond News reader has some questions over local politicians appearing at Chinese government-backed event

Dear Editor,

Re: “Despite warnings, Richmond politicians still attending pro-China events,” Richmond-News.com, Nov. 29.

I can’t help but wonder what on Earth, Alexa Loo and Parm Bains were thinking attending the Canadian Alliance of Chinese Associations (CACA — one even has to wonder about this acronym!) event with the People’s Republic of China Consul General, despite warnings.

Have these two politicians not been reading what has been in the media lately?

Do these two politicians honestly think that it is okay for another country’s leader to chastise our leader in public for something that we, as Canadians, take for granted...transparency?

Do these two politicians think it is okay for another country to set up “police stations” in our country?

Do these two politicians think it is okay for the Chinese government to back the Chinese Council for Western Ontario Elections?

I cannot help but wonder who backed these two politicians?
