Police dog nabs man in South Surrey

A Surrey RCMP police dog bit a crime suspect on his ankle Sunday morning after the 24-year-old Surrey man leapt out of a second-storey window in South Surrey and tried to hobble away.

His ankle was already sprained from the jump, police said. The incident happened in the 17400-block of 16th Avenue, at about 11: 30 a.m.

Police said the Mountie handling the dog warned the fellow to stop, but he tried to scramble over a fence all the same so the dog was sent to nab him.

The suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant in White Rock.

The RCMP also recovered a car that had been stolen in Delta.
