Minoru Chapel Opera is poised to blossom with the 2013 spring season, featuring three special concerts to entice musical aficionados in March, April and May.
The series opens on Wednesday, March 6 with Burnaby Lyric Opera performing highlights from Verdi's Rigoletto.
This opera follows the story of the lustful Duke of Mantua, his hunch-backed court jester Rigoletto, and Rigoletto's beautiful daughter Gilda, in a story of deception and seduction.
On Wednesday, April 3, Vancouver Opera will present An Opera Tea, featuring work by Mozart, Donizetti, Strauss and Gounod. There will also be a sneak preview of music from their upcoming mainstage production of Tan Dun's Tea: A Mirror of the Soul.
The following month, on May 1, Opera di Concertisti will present selections from Donizetti's comic opera, La Fille du Régiment (The Daughter of the Regiment).
