Richmond residents are showing their support for the Humboldt community today following last week's tragic bus crash that led to 16 deaths by wearing sports jerseys.
One group has also planned a game of street hockey for Thursday evening at 6:30 in Steveston, on Moncton Street near No. 1 Road, in front of the museum. Everyone of all ages is encouraged to join in. Just bring a stick, a jersey and positivity as organizers – one of whom lost a family member in the bus crash – say they want to "bring some laughs and joy back into hockey."
Additionally, some individuals and organizations in Richmond have launched initiatives to raise funds for the families impacted by the tragedy. The nation-wide GoFundMe campaign has currently raised nearly $10 million for the families affected. For information on how you can donate, visit the fundraiser’s campaign page. It's not too late to wear a jersey and snap a photo with the hashtag #JerseysForHumboldt to show your support.
