Richmond Public Library is bringing back the young entrepreneurs program for its second year and is calling for applications from youth who have a passion for business.

The free, specialized program is for youth aged 15-25 who are keen to learn the skills needed for launching and running their own business.

Successful applicants will attend a series of workshops run by business professionals, covering topics such as how to create a business plan, marketing, budgeting and writing an elevator pitch. Participants will then apply the skills they’ve learned to their own business pitch, to be presented at a Dragon’s Den style event.

The program’s finale will include prizes, awards and certificates for the top three participants.

“This program, more than anything else, made me realize how much I wanted to start my own business, as well as giving me access to peers and mentors with the same goal,” said one of last year’s successful finalists.

Young entrepreneurs runs from July 10 to 31, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at the Brighouse library branch. There is no cost to participate, but the program is limited to 15 youth. Applications will be accepted from May 1 to June 5 at 5 p.m.
