This year’s Activate! Wellness Fair 55+ event will take place on Wednesday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the goal of connecting participants with their community and with vital information to keep healthy, safe and independent in their homes.

People attending the fair — which will be held throughout the Minoru precinct — will be busy with more than 40 booths from local organizations and businesses, with products and services specifically for the over-55s.

Areas such as blood glucose and blood pressure checks, along with 17 workshops and presentations, will all be available, free of charge. Speaker presentations will provide an opportunity for dialogue and questions and light snacks and refreshments will be served at the following presentations: Storytelling for the health of it; A story of caregiver burnout; faith and spirituality; Nikkei stories of Japanese Canadian pioneers; and the Invisible Illness story.

There will also be instructor-led sessions, where all materials will be included:

- Clay self-portraits; painting memories; improvised theatre; and drama voice and story.

Educational workshops round-out the activities:

- Digital storytelling with Simon Fraser University; Memories and stories with the Richmond Public Library; and Just for men.

Presentations, sessions and workshops will be held at Minoru Place Activity Centre (Seniors Centre), Richmond Public Library (Brighouse) and Richmond Cultural Centre.
