Loren Slye is a former Canadian Navy diver and submariner. He is also a retired industrial fire chief and former City of Richmond fire captain. He’s a Steveston resident, married for 46 years to his wife, Janie. They live in his wife’s 1920s era family home in Steveston, which has been a restoration project of his for 40 years. Among his many community involvements, Slye is chair of both the Britannia Heritage Shipyard Society and Steveston Historical Society. He is also a member of the 20/20 Steveston Historic District Design Committee.
