Amazon plans to expand its Vancouver Tech Hub and add 3,000 jobs by 2022, the tech giant announced this morning (April 30) at a press conference that included Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson.

The development will take place in the now-vacant post office building in downtown Vancouver.

The expansion will see Amazon's B.C. workforce swell to more than 5,000. The company currently has 1,000 researchers and engineers working in Vancouver.

The 416,000 square foot office tower will be Amazon's third office in the downtown core, not including the floors being leased at the Bentall towers through WeWork.

More to come.
