Shanhe Wan, a well-known oil painter from China, is visiting Richmond and will exhibit some of his work at the Sheraton Hotel Saturday afternoon.
Many of Wan’s works focus on the themes of caring for the earth, cherishing life and protecting the environment.
He has three major themed series: an arctic series called "Ice Age", a volcanic series called “Strength and Eruption” and a natural green series called “Life Symphony."
His “The Sun Embraces Glacier” has been housed in the Rockefeller Museum of Modern Art.
Some of Wan’s artwork has been favoured by the Chinese government, such as one collected in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and some others that were presented to presidents of other countries as national gifts.
The exhibition will be open to the public for free from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday at 7551 Westminster Highway.
