I feel compelled to respond to Mr. Langer's letter to the editor "Dredging up old rhetoric," Letters, Jan. 4
As your readers may recall, Mr. Langer's letter expressed his concern regarding my availability to meet to explain my position on certain issues facing our community.
Mr. Langer and his colleague Carol Day are both prominent members of local group, VAPOR (Vancouver Airport Pipeline Opposition for Richmond).
This group is strongly opposed to a proposed jet fuel pipeline to YVR. Mr. Langer would have your paper and its thoughtful readers believe that I have not been willing to discuss his concerns with him directly.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Last month, I was looking forward to a meeting with Ms. Day who advised my office that Mr. Langer would also be in attendance. For reasons yet to be explained, Mr. Langer chose not to attend that meeting where he would have received insight surrounding several issues that he was wanting addressed.
Sadly, an apparent political agenda has trumped Mr. Langer's opportunity to separate fact from rhetoric.
