It’s National Police Week in Canada and Richmond RCMP are inviting the public to learn about what they do.

National Police Week highlights what police officer’s duty is – “to serve and protect with diligence, compassion, and integrity,” they explained in a media release.

“Here in Richmond, public trust is the cornerstone of the community we build together, each day, every day,” said Chief Supt. Dave Chauhan, officer in charge of Richmond RCMP.

On Thursday, the public is invited to meet RCMP officers at the Minoru Centre for Active Living, 7191 Granville Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (on the promenade).

Activities include:

Spot the Target: Identify objects in a vehicle that may attract thieves and enter a draw for a chance to win exciting prizes.

RCMP police vehicle display: Get an up-close look at an operational police vehicle.

Spin the Wheel: Test your knowledge and win your choice of prizes.

Meet your local RCMP: An opportunity to meet and greet members of the Richmond RCMP team.

Richmond RCMP held a similar event on Tuesday in Hamilton.
